Dr. Richard Sammy joined Community Care Veterinary Specialists in late 2025 after 21 years of exceptional patient care at his prior employers. He is a 2004 graduate with high honors from the UF College of Veterinary Medicine. Previously Dr. Sammy graduated from the College of Engineering at UF (BSME) and worked in the petroleum industry for 8 years at multiple locations around the world prior to attending graduate school. His areas of professional interest include general surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, internal medicine, and endocrinology. He is passionate about providing patient and client focused care that gives each pet the best possible outcome.

Dr. Sammy resides in Gainesville with his wife Michele, and their children Katherine and Will, who are now college students! Dr. Sammy is a native Conch from Key West Florida. During his spare time enjoys a large variety of personal hobbies including exercising, reading, cooking, landscaping and numerous home building projects. His four-legged family currently consists of his Portuguese water dog Calusa (Cal) and the family cat Joey.
