Melissa Carvalho, DVM, MS, PhD

Dr. Carvalho, who is originally from Brazil, moved to the United States in 2010 to pursue her PhD. After completing her graduate studies, she worked in research before eventually following her passion to vet school. Her Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine now allows her to enjoy the challenges and rewards of caring for patients in Emergency and Critical Care and Surgery. Outside of work, she loves spending time with her own animals—a cat, a parrot, dogs and goats. She also loves capoeira, both as a practitioner and instructor.  Dr. Carvalho values family, community, lifelong learning, and the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of both people and animals
